Non-competitive admission with initial proficiency assessment (TOLC or CENT)
A test is not required for enrolment, but the course requires an initial proficiency assessment (TOLC or CENT)
TOLC-E or CENT-S
Admission to the course requires a knowledge assessment through the TOLC-E for Italian-taught curricula, or the CENT-S for the English-taught curriculum. Registration for the test is mandatory via the CISIA website (Consorzio Interuniversitario Sistemi Integrati per l’Accesso).
- Who must take the Assessment Test?
The Assessment Test is mandatory for all prospective applicants for enrollment.
You are exempt if you possess one of the following certifications, which must you must send to the Admissions Office (deams.ammissioni@amm.units.it) for verification:- SAT Certificate with a minimum score of 800/1600.
- GMAT Certificate with a minimum score of 400/800.
- Test Structure
The TOLC-E test for curricula taught in Italian is divided into 3 sections:
- Mathematics
- Logic
- Text Comprehension
The CENT-S test for the curriculum taught in English is divided into the following sections:
- Mathematics
- Reasoning on texts and data
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
To enroll in the Bachelor's Degree English-taught curriculum, it is only necessary to answer the first two sections of the CENT-S test, namely Mathematics and Reasoning on text and data.

- Passing the Test
If you score below 9 points in the TOLC-E, or below 8 points in the CENT-S, you will be assigned an Additional Educational Obligation (OFA - Obbligo Formativo Aggiuntivo) designed to help you bridge any gaps before commencing your university studies. To clear the OFA, you must pass the Matematica Generale exam (for Italian-taught curricula) or the Mathematics exam (for the English-taught curriculum).

TOLC Procedures, Dates and Registration
You may take the test at any university, and it will also be valid for the University of Trieste. TOLC-E, CENT-S (or ENGLISH TOLC-E) tests taken from January 1 of the year preceding the enrollment application until the enrollment deadline are valid. If you have taken multiple tests, the test with the highest score will be considered. For comprehensive and exhaustive information on TOLC procedures, please visit the CISIA website.

Test Delivery Methods
- TOLC-E@UNI or CENT-S@UNI: In-person at the computer labs of the university hosting the TOLC.
- TOLC-E@CASA or CENT-S@CASA: Online using personal computer equipment.
In all cases, please ensure you have a valid identification document readily available.
For this year, only in-person tests are scheduled at units.
However, TOLC-E@CASA or CENT-S@CASA Tests taken at other universities will also be considered valid for enrollment.

- Language proficiency for non-EU students
Non-EU students residing abroad who enrol in Italian-taught curricula must also pass an Italian language proficiency test. For more information, please visit the dedicated page.
- Information for students with disabilities or learning disorders
If you are a student with disability and/or specific learning difficulties, contact the Service for Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Difficulties to request specific support at least 10 days before the test.

Access the Online Student Service (Esse3)
- Start the procedure for enrolment applications

- Complete the required fields and upload the necessary documents:
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
If you log in using SPID, this will not be required - Supplementary enrolment form (at the bottom of this page)
- Passport-sized photo in JPEG format, NO SELFIES (refer to the requirements)
- Residence permit or proof of application (for non-EU citizens only)
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
- Pay the first instalment of university fees. This confirms your pre-enrolment.
Within 2 working days of payment, the university's digital services will be activated, limited to Microsoft Teams, to enable access to lectures.
- Wait for the confirmation email
Within a few days, you will receive an email confirming your enrolment. Your student number will then be visible in your Reserved Area on Esse3.
Within two working days of receiving confirmation of your enrolment, you will have full access to the University's digital services (including your institutional email account and the MyUniTS app).
- If you have yet to obtain the required qualification
If you have yet to obtain the required qualification, please start the enrolment procedure regardless, and pay the first instalment of fees. This will allow you to attend classes and give you access to the UniTS e-Learning content.
Within 15 days of receiving your official exam results, you must re-enter the online procedure and enter the missing data.
Enrolment will be finalised, and you will receive your student ID number only after you have graduated and provided the complete documentation.
To enroll in this course, you must meet the following requirements:
- Academic Qualification: You must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad.
- If you hold a foreign qualification, please consult the information dedicated to International Students to verify the validity of your qualification and specific access requirements.
Language Proficiency: For enrollment in the English-taught curriculum, English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level is required, officially attested by appropriate documentation that must be submitted by the enrollment deadline (see Deadlines).

You can request an assessment of your preparation even if you have not yet obtained the required qualification.
