Syllabus

The cousre aims to identify and treat the described clinical conditions, pending the ineterventions of the specialits with a more in -depth knowledge of the diseases

knowledge of the biochemistry of the acid-base equilibrium, pathophysiolgy. pharmacolgy and neurology

sepsis annd septic shock, acute repsiratroy failure and ARDS;diseeminated intravascular coagulation; coma dn brain death

the slides and the relate articles in PDF will be released to the students;
any up-to-date textboo k of internal medicine ccan be used.

!) causes of sepsis and septic shcok, clinical presentation and treatment according to the current guidelines;
2) causes and clinical presentation of the disseminated intravascular coagulation and proncipels of treatment
3) causes and clinical presentation of acute respiratory failure and principles of treatment;
4) causes of coma and related clinical and instrumenatl diagnosis
5) definition and diagnosis of brain death; organ harvesting

the teacher is available for supplementary lessons on topics indicated by the students

The oral examinations consists in the identification of a diagnostic and therapeutic approach of situztions treated during the course. The exmination aims to evaluate the levell of knowledge, the appropriateness of the medical-scientifical jargon and the the level of the verbal exposition.
the final votes will be based on the following variables:
votes 29-30 and 30 cum laude. the student demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the subject, has optimal communicative skills and masters the the medical-scientifical jargon;
votes 26-28 the student demonstrates a good knowledge of the subject, has good communicative skills and uses appropriately the medical-scientifical jargon;
votes 22-25: the student demonstrates a moderate knowledge of the subject, has moderate communicative skills and is able to us quite approrpriately the medical-scientifical jargon;
votes 18-21: the student demonstrates a minimal knowledge of the subject, has minimal communicative skills and is able to use limitately the medical-scientifical jargon;
Not passed: the student does not demonstrate the minimal knowledge of the subject, has insufficient communicative skills and is unable to use the medical-scientifical jargon. Put simply then student cannot apply the acquired knowledge
