To develop the ability to recognize the main acute internal medicine diseases or syndromes and to perform a rapid differential diagnosis, with the aim of acquiring the skills needed to define diagnostic and therapeutic pathways and to initiate appropriate first treatments.
Knowledge of: Human Anatomy, Medical and Surgical Pathophysiology of Organs and Systems, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Semiotics.
The program includes clinical aspects, diagnostics, and medical therapy of the main acute internal medicine diseases or syndromes.
Any up-to-date internal medicine textbook can be used as a foundation. Additionally, course slides and PDFs related to the topics covered will be provided.
Presentation of clinical cases involving the main acute internal medicine diseases or syndromes, aimed at developing the ability to design appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic pathways. Acute respiratory failure Septic syndrome Venous thromboembolism Gastrointestinal bleeding Non-traumatic headache Hypertensive emergencies
Lectures, interactive teaching, and illustrative clinical cases.
The teacher is available for additional lessons on topics requested by students.
Oral examination with open-ended questions on acute internal medicine conditions and clinical cases, requiring the formulation of a diagnostic-therapeutic plan. The exam will assess: I) the level of knowledge of the subject; II) clarity of expression; III) command of medical-scientific language.
