Syllabus

Knowledge and understanding The course aims to provide knowledge on clinical indications and Doppler examination technique in the different vascular districts. At the end of the course, the student must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the field of clinical and vascular physiology with particular reference to ultrasonographic diagnostics. Making judgements At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that they have not only acquired knowledge of the concepts but are also able to apply them appropriately. Communication skills At the end of the course, the students have to be able to express themselves in an appropriate way through the specific terminology acquired with the lessons Learning skills At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that they are able to apply the minimum knowledge, skills and competences described in this Syllabus

The examination of the integrated course of General and Specialist Surgery, of which this teaching module is part, must be preceded by the examinations of Physiopathology and integrated pathology, Pathological Anatomy and Pharmacology

Knowledge of Doppler principle, and of Doppler diagnostic techniques on: 1) Lower limb obstructive vascular disease; 2) Venous tromboembolic disease; 3) Cerebrovascular disease; 4) Renovascular disease. 5) Pathologies of the large abdominal vessels 6) pathologies of hepatic vessels

Evaluation consists in an oral examination (15-20 minutes) in which the knowledge of the student is assessed. Oral questions will consist of theoretical questions, case discussion and image commentary. The score of the exam is awarded by a score expressed in thirtieth. To pass the exam (18/30) the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired and understood the characteristics of the physics of ultrasound, of Doppler imaging and the different techniques and clinical indications of Doppler imaging. To achieve the maximum score (30/30 cum laude) the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course. In the case of a vote of 30/30 a maximum of one point may be awarded for obtaining praise. The score of this module contributes to the final single grade of the integrated course. The final grade of the integrated course will be expressed through the weighted average of the marks obtained in the tests related to the individual modules. The evaluation grid adopted is as follows: - Excellent (30 - 30 and praise): the student shows excellent knowledge of arguments, excellent language properties, excellent analytical ability; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to. concrete cases. - Very good (27 - 29): the student shows good knowledge of subjects, remarkable language properties, good analytical ability; the student is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Good (24-26): the student shows good knowledge of the major topics, discrete language properties; the student shows a adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main subjects of teaching, while possessing the knowledge fundamental; it nevertheless shows satisfactory properties of language and. sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Sufficient (18-20): the student shows minimal knowledge of main subjects of teaching and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to cases concrete. - Insufficient: the student does not have an acceptable knowledge of the contents of the different topics of the programme.
