Syllabus

The general objective of the course is to provide operational methods, techniques and tools, based on scientific evidence, used by the Health Assistant in the contexts of Primary and Secondary Prevention through an experiential and personal approach in the company areas dedicated to the prevention of infectious and social diseases, environmental and work hygiene and the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases.
Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the student / ssa must demonstrate knowledge of the role of the Health Assistant in the management of activities in the field of infectious diseases, vaccinations, cancer screening, cardiovascular prevention and Health Promotion in general, medicine labor.
Applied knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the student must be able to apply the information and knowledge acquired to different types of situations related to professional practice both in a protected environment (classroom exercises) and in the internship experience.
Communication skills: At the end of the course the student / ssa must be able to present the knowledge learned and argue their point of view in the various moments of comparison and discussion.
Autonomy of judgment: At the end of the course the student / ssa must be able to critically analyze the operating methods, techniques and tools presented using them correctly in the context and work situation or individual case proposed during the exercise classroom.
Ability to learn: At the end of the course the student must be able to deepen the topics covered in the course through critical analysis and discussion also through the consultation of bibliography texts.

For admission to the internship exam: 100% attendance and participation in the observational internship and classroom internships.

During the internship in the classroom, the following topics related to the role of the Health Assistant in the management of:
Infectious diseases
Vaccination clinic
Cancer screening
Cardiovascular prevention
We will deal with the construction of the job description
Problem Based Learning methodologies: the case method.

During the lessons will be provided handouts and material useful for the study and texts used by the teachers of the respective disciplines

During the internship in the classroom, the following topics related to the role of the Health Assistant in the management of:
Infectious diseases
Vaccination clinic
Cancer screening
Cardiovascular prevention
We will deal with the construction of the job description
Problem Based Learning methodologies: the case method.

Frontal lessons in the classroom.
Practical and interactive classroom activities and exercises, carried out individually and in groups with the supervision of the professional tutor.
Group work according to the Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology: the case method.
Attendance at the internship locations in agreement and sub-convention with the teaching office to which they belong with the supervision of the internship assistant, according to the schedule communicated by the professional tutor. The locations will be: vaccination centers, health promotion services, cancer screening scheduling services, food hygiene and nutrition services, family clinics. 450 hours are foreseen divided into two periods in the two semesters..

The final evaluation is based on:
1. The evaluation of the observational internship compiled by the internship tutors, at the end of attendance at the services, is aimed at measuring the student's abilities in the relational, behavioral and organizational area.
2. The evaluation of the internship report which will take into account the relevance of the paper with respect to the delivery, the ability to describe the service, the related activities and the role of the health assistant within it. It will also take into account the ability to carry out a self-analysis with respect to the training opportunity and a self-assessment of knowledge, skills and attitudes in the sector. The appropriate uses of the register and linguistic expression and the editorial format will also be rewarded. On the other hand, delivery times not respected will be penalized.
A mark out of 30 will be assigned to each internship report.
3. Technical-practical oral exam on the listed contents. (evaluation in 30ths).
4. Participation in classroom internship activities.
Those who have attended 450 hours of internship provided for in the study plan divided into two periods (November-December, May-June) can access the oral exam, except for the special cases provided for by the regulations, and who have delivered a register of internship signatures and report of internship within the deadline.
The oral exam will be awarded a mark out of 30.
The exam score is attributed by means of a mark expressed out of thirty calculated on the basis of the weighted average of the scores reported. To achieve the maximum score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course.
In the case of a fractional result, any rounding will be up if ≥0.5, or down if <0.5. For example: If the average grade is ≥ 27.5 the recorded grade will be 28. If the average is <27.5 the recorded grade will be 27.
