Syllabus

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
Understand the fundamental principles of organizational theory.
Describe the structure and functioning of healthcare organizations, with specific reference to the Italian National Health System.
Know the main tools for business planning and control, including the basics of financial statements and performance indicators.
Recognize and manage relational dynamics in the workplace, developing interpersonal and communication skills.
Understand the foundations of leadership and the basics of personal development in organizational settings.
Apply basic notions of effective communication in healthcare, especially in interactions with colleagues, teams, and patients.

The course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of business and healthcare organization, economic management, and fundamental tools for planning and control. The objective is to foster awareness of healthcare organizations' functioning and work environment dynamics, including relational and communication skills.

 Oral exam and/or short written essay, at the instructor’s discretion.
 Oral exam: individual interview lasting approximately 20–30 minutes, with 2–3 open-ended questions to assess the student’s understanding of the course topics.
 Short essay: written paper (max. 1,500 words) on a topic agreed upon with the instructor, aimed at evaluating the student’s ability to summarize, analyze, and apply course content.
 Evaluation criteria: clarity of exposition, conceptual accuracy, use of appropriate terminology, critical thinking, and coherence of argumentation.
 The final grade is expressed on a 30-point scale, with the possibility of honors.
 The exam is considered passed with a minimum score of 18/30.
