Syllabus

- KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the course the student must demonstrate knowledge and ability to recognize the diagnostic criteria of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Identify and identify the communicative-linguistic sphere deficits of a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Know the role of the speech therapist within a complex management such as that of a person with Autism.
Be informed about the most effective ways of integrating the network that revolves around children diagnosed with autism.

- CAPACITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the course the student must know how to apply the knowledge acquired as in the previous point and use them for future teachings in which the topics covered will deepen and explode.

- MAKING JUDGMENTS: At the end of the course the student will be able to demonstrate independence of judgment of situations of typical/atypical language development, showing that he knows how to take into consideration the alarm bells and the peculiarities of autism spectrum disorders.

- COMMUNICATION SKILLS: At the end of the course the student must be able to clearly explain the concepts acquired in the first point of this list, but also understand and use the specific vocabulary necessary to describe the clinical cases that he will be faced with and with respect to which he could be useful to share/exchange information with other people (family members, relatives and/or colleagues) using adequate communication.

- LEARNING SKILLS: At the end of the course the student must be able to autonomously deepen the topics covered in self-learning activities, and must also be able to transfer the notions acquired to other relevant teachings/contexts.

No prerequisites are required

Clinical classification of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Knowledge of the DSM-V criteria, some of the observational scales and standardized tests. Learning of the deficits of the communicative-linguistic sphere in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Acquisition of the necessary skills to draw up the communicative-linguistic profile of the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Knowledge of the role of the speech therapist in taking charge of the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Information on the methods and strategies useful for collaboration with the family, school and other entities.

Laboratory test.
Clinical cases will be proposed in which the student will have to demonstrate that he has acquired observational and descriptive skills of the manifestations of autism spectrum disorders.
An assessment will be expressed in terms of Approved/Not approved in consideration of the assessment of the skills described above.
