To enroll in this course, you must meet the following requirements:

• Academic Qualification: You must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad.
  • If you hold a foreign qualification, please consult the information dedicated to International Students to verify the validity of your qualification and specific access requirements.

You can request an assessment of your preparation even if you have not yet obtained the required qualification.

Enrollment for this course is open from April 20, 2026 to October 2, 2026.

 

TOLC-S

Admission to the course requires a knowledge assessment through the TOLC-S. Registration for the test is mandatory via the CISIA website (Consorzio Interuniversitario Sistemi Integrati per l’Accesso). 

For this course, the TOLC-I and TOLC-E tests, even if taken at other university locations, are also recognized.

Who must take the Assessment Test?

The TOLC is mandatory for all prospective applicants for enrollment. You may be exempt from taking the TOLC if:

• You have already taken the test at another university and achieved the minimum threshold required by the Degree Course.
• You hold another university degree.

Test Structure

The TOLC-S test is divided into 6 sections:

• Basic Mathematics
• Reasoning, Problem Solving, and Text Comprehension
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Earth Sciences 

To enroll in the study program, it is only necessary to answer the first two sections of the TOLC-S test: Basic Mathematics and Reasoning, Problem Solving and Text Comprehension.

Passing the Test

The TOLC-S test is considered passed if a minimum overall score of 13 is achieved solely on the Basic Mathematics and Reasoning, Problem Solving and Text Comprehension sections; the TOLC-I test is considered passed if a score of 18 is achieved; the TOLC-E test is considered passed if a score of 13 is achieved. 

If you do not obtain the minimum score, you will be assigned an Additional Educational Obligation (OFA) designed to help you bridge any gaps before commencing your university studies. The Department will organize a support course to facilitate the overcoming of identified gaps. To clear the OFA, you must pass the "Matematica per l’Economia e la Statistica 1" exam. TOLC Procedures, Dates and Registration

You may take the test at any University, and it will also be valid for the University of Trieste. TOLC-S, TOLC-I, or TOLC-E tests taken from January 1 of the year preceding the enrollment application until the enrollment deadline are valid. • TOLC@UNI: In-person at the computer labs of the university hosting the TOLC.
• TOLC@CASA: Online using personal computer equipment.

Within deadlines

Access the Online Student Service (Esse3)

1. Start the procedure for enrolment applications
   Menu > Home > Enrolment
    
2. Complete the required fields and upload the necessary documents:
   • Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
     If you log in using SPID, this will not be required
   • Supplementary enrolment form (at the bottom of this page)
   • Passport-sized photo in JPEG format, NO SELFIES (refer to the requirements)
   • Residence permit or proof of application (for non-EU citizens only)
      
3. Pay the first instalment of university fees. This confirms your pre-enrolment.
   Within 2 working days of payment, the university's digital services will be activated, limited to Microsoft Teams, to enable access to lectures.
    
4. Wait for the confirmation email
   Within a few days, you will receive an email confirming your enrolment. Your student number will then be visible in your Reserved Area on Esse3.
   Within two working days of receiving confirmation of your enrolment, you will have full access to the University's digital services (including your institutional email account and the MyUniTS app).

If you have yet to obtain the required qualification

If you have yet to obtain the required qualification, please start the enrolment procedure regardless, and pay the first instalment of fees.  This will allow you to attend classes and give you access to the UniTS e-Learning content. 

Within 15 days of receiving your official exam results, you must re-enter the online procedure and enter the missing data.

Enrolment will be finalised, and you will receive your student ID number only after you have graduated and provided the complete documentation.
