Is part of:
Know the preparatory notions of topographic anatomy, the current diagnostic guidelines aimed at recognizing the main clinical and radiological lesions of the maxillofacial system.
Describe the surgical techniques, know how to formulate a treatment plan, know the indications and contraindications, recognize and describe the principles of treatment of complications in surgery, know the pharmacological therapy, know how to provide indications for correct behavior in the post-operative period for prevention of complications.
Describe the mechanisms of osseointegration, know implant systems, implant surgery techniques, participate in the formulation of a treatment plan with the use of implants, know the indications and contraindications, recognize and describe the principles of treatment of complications in implantology, know the techniques for augmenting implant sites, know the maintenance therapy
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: at the end of the course students will have to know and understand the main topics of implant surgery, pre-implant regenerative surgery, treatment of peri-implant diseases
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: at the end of the course students will have to demonstrate knowledge and ability to understand the fundamental concepts and principles on which implant surgery is based, recognize specific cases and apply the concepts to diagnoses and treatments.
MAKING JUDGMENTS: at the end of the course students must be able to collect and interpret clinically relevant data providing appropriate clinical judgements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: at the end of the course students must be able to communicate information, ideas and solutions to clinical problems to colleagues, patients and auxiliary staff.
ABILITY TO LEARN: at the end of the course, students will have to apply the knowledge, skills and minimum competences described in the syllabus and demonstrate a sufficient degree of autonomy in learning the updates.
From the preparatory point of view, in order to achieve the objectives of the course in question, the notions of: embryology, anatomy, pharmacology, general pathology, special odontostomatological pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, internal medicine must be considered.

The student's evaluation includes an oral test in which open questions on general understanding of the subject are proposed, aimed at technical aspects and reasoning on hypothetical clinical cases.
The score of the exam is attributed by means of a mark expressed out of thirty.
The evaluation grid adopted is as follows:
- Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): the student shows excellent knowledge of
topics, excellent language skills, excellent analytical ability; the
student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to
concrete cases.
- Very good (27 - 29): the student shows good knowledge of
topics, notable language skills, good analytical ability; the
student is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to
concrete cases.
- Good (24-26): the student shows good knowledge of the main ones
arguments, good command of language; the student shows a
adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of
main topics of teaching, despite possessing the knowledge
fundamentals; he however shows satisfactory language skills and
sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Sufficient (18-20): the student shows minimal knowledge of
main topics of teaching and technical language, limited
ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to cases
concrete.
- Insufficient: the student does not have acceptable knowledge of
contents of the different topics of the program.
The oral implant surgery module will confer a grade that cannot be rejected by the student which will contribute via a weighted average to the final grade of the integrated course. The average is weighted in relation to the credits of the module. Praise is worth 1 point (31). If the average of the integrated course is > 30.5, honors is given. The exam session will be scheduled on Esse3 and the grades will be recorded on Esse3 and available to the integrated course coordinator. The duration of validity of the module grade is three sessions from the end of the 2nd semester (extraordinary session).
This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
