Internship description and objectives

Internship organisation
- Where to undertake the internship
You can choose to undertake an internal or external internship.
Internal internships take place within the Department of Physics or another University Department, under the supervision of a tutor who is usually the thesis supervisor or another lecturer appointed by the Course of Study.
External internships are conducted at research institutions, institutes and public or private companies in agreement with the University, under the supervision of company tutor, i.e. a tutor from the host organisation, and a University tutor, usually the thesis supervisor or another lecturer from the Department of Physics appointed by the Course of Study.
To find an external host institution, check the internship proposals on the Department’s website.- What to do BEFORE starting the internship
Given the close connection between the thesis and the internship, the documents required to start the internship must be submitted together with the form for selecting the Thesis Supervisor.
To start an internal internship, send the following documents to the Teaching Secretariat (didattica.df@units.it) at least 6 months before the expected graduation:
- Training Project for internal internships (stage)
- Thesis Request Form (with an internal or external Supervisor)
To start an external internship, after identifying the tutors, send the following documents to the Teaching Secretariat (didattica.df@units.it) at least 8 months before the expected graduation:
- Training Project (Progetto Formativo)
- Risk assessment form (Scheda rischi)
- Host organisation form (Scheda dell'ente ospitante)
- Thesis Request Form (with an internal or external Supervisor)
If the host institution requires an insurance coverage certificate, you can obtain it by contacting the Student Career Office.
- What to do AFTER completing the internship
To register an internal internship, send to the Teaching Office (didattica.df@units.it) the Final Internship Confirmation (Attestazione finale di tirocinio).
To register an external internship, send to the Teaching Office (didattica.df@units.it) the Final Stage Confirmation (Attestazione finale di stage).
In both cases, you will need to present the activities carried out and the results achieved in a 20-minute public seminar. Contact the internship coordinator, Prof. Andrea Bressan (ANDREA.BRESSAN@units.it), to register for the esam session held on the first Monday of each month.
