Syllabus

The general aim of the course is to provide knowledge about the methodology of the educational process envisaged in the programme, the mechanisms of operation, and the evaluation of interventions using the appropriate channels.
At the end of the course, in accordance with the Dublin Descriptors, in order to pass the examination the student must demonstrate:
Knowledge and ability to understand - Knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms at work in the educational process.
Applied knowledge and understanding - To be able to apply knowledge by describing the strategies necessary for the development of a risk comunication plan.
Autonomy of judgement - To have developed the ability to know how to plan an educational intervention taking into account the target audience.
Communication skills - To have been able to use technical-professional language correctly and appropriately in order to set out clearly and unambiguously the knowledge acquired and the reasoning developed.
Ability to learn - To have been able to integrate the information provided in lectures by drawing autonomously on authoritative information sources (e.g. textbooks), and to be able to self-assess one's own level of preparation and ability to express organised thought before taking the exam.

Studies on the subject of social risk perception originate from the increasing environmental risks and its effects on human health and environmental health. Public risk acceptance or rejection is a frequent cause of concern, anxiety and conflict among the population.
The research on the subject matter have extended the analysis to the social sciences following a multi and interdisciplinary integration model, applicable to any environmental issue.

The programme consists of several parts:
The teaching programme includes the presentation and discussion of the following topics:
•introduction to risk communication, with reference to the risk society;
•theories of risk communication;
•risk communication
•operational areas of risk communication: care communication, crisis communication, consensus communication;
There will be presentations of case studies in the health sector and activities that involve team work.

Interactive lectures with the aid of projections of Power Point or compatible files prepared by the lecturer. Exercises on exam problems.

The student will have to develop a communication plan for a health emergency in cooperation with his team and the company’s communications service/department.

This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
