Syllabus

1. Knowledge and understanding: Students will acquire a solid understanding of the theoretical and scientific foundations of audiology. They will comprehend the physiological and neurological principles of hearing, as well as the functioning mechanisms of diagnostic tools and equipment used in audiology. 2. Application of knowledge and understanding: Students will be able to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in audiology to clinical practice. They will be capable of correctly interpreting diagnostic tools to assess patients' hearing abilities and interpreting the results obtained in order to formulate precise diagnoses. 3. Problem-solving skills: Students will develop skills in solving problems related to audiology. They will be able to analyze complex situations, identify patients' hearing issues, and develop appropriate treatment plans. They will critically evaluate available scientific evidence and adapt clinical practices based on specific patient needs. 4. Communication skills: Students will learn to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other professionals in the field of audiology. They will be able to conduct thorough interviews with patients to gather relevant information about their clinical history and provide clear and understandable explanations regarding diagnostic procedures and treatment plans. 5. Teamwork skills: Students will develop the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. They will collaborate with other professionals, such as otolaryngologists, speech therapists, and psychologists, to provide comprehensive and integrated care for patients with hearing problems. 6. Independent learning skills: Students will be capable of continuing to learn and update their knowledge in the field of audiology autonomously. They will be able to identify and critically evaluate sources of scientific information and adopt a reflective approach to constantly improve their professional skills.

Teaching material will be delivered by the teacher

The student assessment includes a final written exam consisting of 31 multiple-choice questions (with only one correct answer). The exam score is given on a scale of thirty. Each correct answer is awarded 1 point. For each incorrect answer, -0.25 points are deducted. If no answer is provided, 0 points are awarded. To pass the exam (18/30), the student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in class and accumulate at least 18 points. To achieve the highest score (30/30 with honors), the student must demonstrate excellent knowledge of the topics covered in class and answer all questions correctly.

This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
