Knowledge and understanding:
The course aims to provide the student with theoretical and practical knowledge and methodologies regarding dysphagia and cognitive behavioral and linguistic communicative disorders in the TBI, aimed at acquiring skills related to the assessment and definition of the evidence-based speech therapy treatment plan and clinically reasoned on the basis of the most updated neurophysiological, neuropsychological and neurolinguistic models in the literature.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Employ the knowledge related to the assessment and treatment of communication, linguistic, cognitive and swallowing disabilities in TBI patients by planning the times, verifying the out-comes, evaluating and organizing the rehabilitation setting appropriate to the therapy and to the patient according to a biopsychosocial approach

Neuropsychology, neurology, neurolinguistics, neuroanatomy and pathophysiology of swallowing

Definition and Classification of TBI
• The state of consciousness and its alterations
• Disorders of Counsciusness (DOCs): definitions and diagnostic criteria
• Evaluation Scales of DOCs
• Neuropsychological disorders in TBI: attention, memory, language and behavioral disturbances. Theory and Clinical Practice.
• Rehabilitation interventions and theoretical / practical approach integrated in the speech therapy management of the person with TBI: from the acute phase to the outcomes
• Dysphagia Evaluation in TBI tracheostomized patient
• Speech therapy rehabilitation in TBI tracheostomized patient: therapeutic rationale
