latex and / or antiseptics / disinfectants);
• Apply diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions with adequate
monitoring and surveillance strategies;
• Identify the appropriate devices based on the clinical situation;
• Transmit all the necessary information to the subject undergoing the
procedure, taking into account the clinical situation and the ability to
understand;

• Properly dispose of the material used in compliance with the infectious
and biological risk;
• Document the procedure on client’s record.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS
• Choose the appropriate PPE and devices to ensure operator safety
based on the clinical situation;
• Recognize the conditions that require repeating the procedure;
• Seek the doctor's opinion in case of pathologies that may hinder the
execution of the procedures;
• Choose devices / materials based on the clinical situation and the
peculiarities of the clients;

• Evaluate and intervene in case of complications.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• Recognize the appropriate settings and timing for customer
communications;
• Use the appropriate terminology for effective diagnostic and
therapeutic nursing communication based on the interlocutor and his
knowledge and skills;
• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions aimed at the
client in relation to the procedure and any precautions at the end of the
procedure or for the management of the device.
LEARNING SKILLS
Obiettivi per lo sviluppo sostenibile
Codice Descrizione
• Identify his/her training needs by planning further learning moments
(additional workshops, tutorial sessions);
• Identify suitable sources for professional development based on the
latest available guidelines.
For a better understanding of the topics covered in this course, the
student should have a basic knowledge of the pathophysiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, urinary, intestinal, integumentary and musculoskeletal systems.
Passing the exam is a prerequisite for the internship exam.
Use of techniques, procedures, strategies and decision-making processes in the following areas:
- Nursing care to the person with invasive and non-invasive respiratory support
- Nursing care in difficult communication situations
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation
- Team approach to complex healthcare situations
“Trattato di cure Infermieristiche” Saiani L., Brugnolli A. III Edizione Napoli: Sorbona – Idelson-Gnocchi 2020 (also available in the Medicine library)
The power point presentations will be made available to students.
The simulation laboratories within the Degree Course in Nursing represent, together with the theoretical lessons and the clinical internship, a significant learning opportunity. The course will deal:
- Nursing care to the person with invasive and non-invasive respiratory support
• Management of the patient with endotracheal tube or tracheotomy (fixation of the orotracheal tube, tracheotomy dressing and cleaning of the inner cannula, evaluation and safety of the patient, suction of the airways)
• Management of the patient on non-invasive ventilation (basic notions, evaluation and safety of the patient, choice of interfaces)
- Nursing assistance in difficult communication situations
• basic principles and use of tools to facilitate communication in people with aphasia
• Communication tools with the person with mental health problems
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation
• Cardiac arrest: evaluation, recognition and resuscitation maneuvers. Defibrillation.
• Airway unblocking techniques
- Team approach to complex healthcare situations
• Application of guidelines for the management of highly complex patients
• Field testing of Non-Technical Skills (communication, leadership and teamwork)
The teaching includes laboratory activities in small groups, with exercises on dummies and dedicated simulators, role play and minimum recourse to frontal teaching, integrated with individual study according to the indications and the material provided by the teachers/tutors
The power point presentations, links to films and videos relating to the teaching units are available on the moodle@units and Microsoft Teams IT platforms.
The exam will consist of a theoretical/practical test in which the student will apply a procedure covered by the teaching to a clinical case/situation and will also demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical principles.
To pass the exam the student must obtain a positive evaluation (18/30).
The evaluation grid adopted is as follows: - Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): excellent knowledge of the topics, excellent language skills, excellent analytical ability; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Very good (27 - 29): good knowledge of the topics, notable language skills, good analytical ability; the student is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Good (24-26): good knowledge of the main topics, fair command of language; the student shows an adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main topics of the course, despite possessing the fundamental knowledge; however, he shows satisfactory language skills and sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main teaching topics and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases. - Insufficient: the student does not have acceptable knowledge of the contents of the different topics of the program
The contents delve into topics related to the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
