Syllabus

At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate knowledge of the main clinical pictures of urgency/emergency listed under "Contenuti". In particular, the student must demonstrate the ability to frame correctly by the pathophysiological and clinical point of view the different clinical pictures and report back the main diagnostic tests to use for each pathology.

D2-Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student should be able to interpret a clinical picture that will be presented as part of the program. Students must also be able to understand the principles of diagnosis, nursing and medical therapy applied.

D3-Autonomy of judgement
At the end of the course, the student must be able to address the differential diagnosis by analyzing and proposing alternative pathologies where possible related to a clinical case presented within the program.

D4-Communication skills
At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate the ability to expose the notions referred to in point D1

D5-Learning ability
At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate the ability to find and learn
independently guidelines and literature on the subject of medical emergencies and nursing approach-

For a satisfactory learning of the contents of this course it is necessary that the student has acquired the basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, medical semiotics and internal medicine.

In the course the main medical emergencies will be presented. In detail, acute respiratory failure, syncope, shock , coma and its aetiology, sepsis , hypo- and hyperglycemic complications of diabetes mellitus and hypertensive urgencies and emergencies will be presented.

Knowledge acquisition will be verified through an oral and/or written exam performed by the faculty committee in association with content verification for other teaching modules. In progress a written test will be administered and the results will be made available to the faculty committee during the final examination.
Knowledge of the main topics will be verified through general questions: the student should demonstrate to be oriented in the recognition, differential diagnosis and nursing approach of the different clinical pictures.
The student will also be placed in front of selected clinical cases, demonstrating ability to synthesize, interpretation and prevention of acute complications from the nursing perspective.
