- Understanding the pathophysiological foundations as well as the main diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Basics of palliative care.

For the purpose of understanding the lesson content and learning objectives, it is necessary for the student to have a solid foundation in physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical pharmacology, as well as the ability to integrate information from different disciplinary areas.

In an aging population, the treatment of acute pain in healthcare facilities and chronic pain in the community represents a challenge for the present and the near future. Pharmacological knowledge and new anesthesiological techniques are the foundation for addressing the growing need for well-being.
