Clinical Nursing Care Procedures 3:
The course will deal with the study of the sequence of actions, as well as their rationale, with regard to the following nursing care procedures:
• Nursing assistance implemented in the pre-operative period, such as preparation of the person for surgery, (diet and fasting, shower and dressing before surgery), verification of all the necessary documentation and preparation of the bed unit.
• Nursing assistance implemented in the post-operative period (return to the ward of the person, vital parameters, evaluation of all devices, drainage management, immediate and late post-operative risks)
• The aforementioned nursing assistance will be deepened with regard to the following surgical interventions:
Oropharynx. (laryngectomy, pharyngectomy, neck dissection and packing a tracheostomy or tracheostomy).
Breast. (quadrantectomy and mastectomy).
Intestinal system. (colonic resection, hemicolectomy and making a colostomy).
Urinary system. (cystectomy with orthotopic bladder or urostomy packaging).
Osteoarticular apparatus with placement of joint prostheses after accidental fracture or deterioration of the joint. (knee, hip, shoulder).
• Nursing skills and responsibilities in assisting the person undergoing diagnostic procedures. (legal aspect and signing of consents, preparation of instruments, positioning of the person, contrast medium, sedations, assistance to the person and to the doctor).
• Nursing assistance in performing diagnostic tests of the gastrointestinal tract. (gastroscopy, colonoscopy).
• Nursing assistance during the execution of diagnostic tests of the respiratory system. (bronchoscopy).

The examination is structured in 4 separate partial examinations of which:
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery (oral exam)
- Otolaryngology (multiple-choice written exam)
- Orthopedics and traumatology (multiple-choice written exam)
- Clinical nursing: nursing procedures 3 (oral exam)
The Plastic Surgery exam is taken only when the others forming part of the integrated course are passed, and the final grade calculated by weighted average is recorded here.
Plastic Surgery:
The teaching course goal achievement will be assessed through an oral examination. The topics of the teaching will be orally tested in order to verify their correct understanding and their clinical application
Otolaryngology:
The student assessment includes a final written exam consisting of 31 multiple-choice questions (with only one correct answer). The exam score is given on a scale of thirty. Each correct answer is awarded 1 point. For each incorrect answer, -0.25 points are deducted. If no answer is provided, 0 points are awarded. To pass the exam (18/30), the student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in class and accumulate at least 18 points. To achieve the highest score (30/30 with honors), the student must demonstrate excellent knowledge of the topics covered in class and answer all questions correctly.
Clinical Nursing Care Procedures 3:
The student will be evaluated through an oral exam carried out in the classroom. In that session, more open questions lasting about 20 minutes will be asked. Through the interview, on one of the topics of the program, the student's ability to identify the main clinical manifestations of pathologies of surgical interest will be verified, as well as the knowledge and understanding of the therapeutic diagnostic procedure. The evaluation grid adopted is the following:
- Excellent (30 - 30 cum laude): excellent knowledge of the topics, excellent language skills, excellent analytical skills; the student is able to brilliantly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Very good (27 - 29): good knowledge of the topics, remarkable language skills, good analytical skills; the student is able to correctly apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Good (24-26): good knowledge of the main topics, good command of the language; the student shows an adequate ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Satisfactory (21-23): the student does not show full mastery of the main subjects of the teaching, even if he/she possesses the fundamental knowledge; however, he shows satisfactory language skills and sufficient ability to apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
- Sufficient (18-20): minimal knowledge of the main teaching topics and technical language, limited ability to adequately apply theoretical knowledge to concrete cases.
Orthopedics and Traumatology:
Written exam consisting of 32 multiple choice questions of which only one correct answer. Time available before the end of the exam 45 minutes.
Questions are drafted with different levels of difficulty to verify the level of completeness and adequacy of learning on all the topics covered. Each correct answer is worth 1 point and each wrong or missing answer is worth 0 points. The final mark is the result of the sum of the correct answers, from 0 to 30 cum laude (corresponding to 31 or 32 correct answers)
This course explores topics closely related to one or more goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
