Open semester: enrolment

The enrolment procedure depends on the number of credits you have obtained.

For students who have earned all necessary credits

(3 exams passed)

Based on the national ranking published on 8 January 2026, if you are a successful candidate you must submit your enrolment application by 24 January 2026.

  1. Log in to the Online Student Service (Esse3)
    • If you do not yet have an account, register following the dedicated procedures (preferably using a digital identity – SPID);
  2. Access the procedure Home > National competitions and register by 24 January 2026 for the competition “Admission to the degree course in Medicine and Surgery” or for the competition “Admission to the degree course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics” according to the programme you are assigned to (assistance is provided during office hours);
  3. After registering for the competition and by 24 January 2026, select Menu > Home > Enrolment > Standard enrolment > Enrolment in programmed-access courses > Select the chosen course and upload the required data and attachments (assistance is provided during office hours);
  4. Pay the €16 revenue stamp fee by 24 January 2026 by accessing the “Payments” section of the Student Service. No other payment methods are accepted. 

PLEASE NOTE: Enrolment is finalised upon payment of the revenue stamp fee. 

For students with credits to be recovered

(1 or 2 exams passed) 

Based on the national ranking published on 8 January 2026, you must submit your enrolment application by 24 January 2026.

  1. Log in to the Online Student Service (Esse3)
    1. if you do not yet have an account, register following the dedicated procedures (preferably using a digital identity – SPID);
  2. Select Menu > Home > Enrolment > Standard enrolment > Enrolment in open-access courses > Individual courses – Open Semester CFU Recovery (assistance is provided during office hours). 

No payment is required at this stage. 

Students assigned to other universities:
If you are currently assigned to another university but wish to choose Trieste:

  • From 16 to 19 January, indicate Trieste as your new preference on the Universitaly portal (if available);
  • From 21 to 24 January, enrol at the University of Trieste following the procedures described above.

If you have not obtained any credits in the Open Semester, you cannot enrol in the programme.
 

After completing the procedure, you can proceed with the Recovery of the missing CFU.

Students with no credits obtained

(0 exams passed)

If you did not obtain any credits during the Open Semester, you may enrol in an open-access degree programme at the University of Trieste from 14 January to 6 March.

International students:
In both cases, if you are a non-EU candidate already resident in Italy and holding an Italian qualification, by 24 January 2026 you must send via e-mail to the Admissions Office (areavitasalute.ammissioni@amm.units.it) your residence permit or proof of application.

Medical history and Mantoux test

After enrolment is finalised, you must complete the medical history questionnaire. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from course attendance, especially laboratory activities: See Health Surveillance.

By 20 February 2026, you must also send exclusively by e-mail to mantoux@amm.units.it, the certificate of tuberculin intradermal reaction (Mantoux test) (Presidential Decree of 7 November 2001 no. 465). The test can be carried out at healthcare facilities in your province of residence.
