Curricular requirements
The International Master’s Degree in Neuroscience is open to graduates holding:
- A degree in Scienze Biologiche (L-13), Biotecnologie (L-2), or equivalent qualifications under Ministerial Decree 509/99 or 270/04.
Alternatively, applicants must have earned at least 60 CFU (credits) in the following subject groups:
- A minimum of 15 CFU in subjects from one or more of the following SSD groups:
- CHIM/01–CHIM/12, MAT/01–MAT/09, FIS/01–FIS/08, INF/01, MED/01, SECS/01–SECS/02
- A minimum of 20 CFU in subjects from one or more of the following SSD groups:
- BIO/01, BIO/04–BIO/07, BIO/09, BIO/16, BIO/17, MED/04, MED/08, M-PSI/02, VET/01, VET/02
- A minimum of 25 CFU in subjects from one or more of the following SSD groups:
- BIO/10–BIO/14, BIO/18, BIO/19, MED/03, MED/07, AGR/07, AGR/16
If you do not meet these curricular requirements you may still be admitted after individual assessment. In such cases, you may need to complete the required CFU before enrollment, including by sitting specific examinations.
English Language Proficiency
Proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level is required. This can be demonstrated through official certification or a clear statement in the applicant’s academic curriculum.
- If you have yet to obtain the required qualification
If you have not yet obtained the qualification required for admission:
- start anyway the Enrolment Process
- submit additional documentation: include a self-declaration listing completed and pending exams and your curriculum studiorum, if applicable.
- pay the first instalment of tuition fees:
This will allow you to attend lectures and access Digital Teaching resources. Upon obtaining your degree, you must re-enter the online procedure, enter the missing details and promptly inform the relevant section of the Admissions Office via email.
Your enrolment will be finalised, and you will receive your matriculation number only after providing all required documentation.
There are 2 admission requirement verification and subsequent enrolment windows, depending on the date the degree granting access to the course is obtained.
You can submit the enrolment application only after completing the requirement verification process and receiving a confirmation email.
Enrolment Deadlines for A.Y. 2024/2025
- 1st window – For graduates by 15 November 2024:
- Submission of evaluation request: from 3 June to 15 November 2024
- Enrolment: by 20 December 2024
- 2nd window – For graduates between 16 November 2024 and 28 March 2025:
- Submission of evaluation request: from 7 January to 14 February 2025
- Enrolment: by 31 March 2025
If you miss the first enrolment deadline of 20 December 2024, you may still enrol by 31 March 2025. However, a late enrolment fee will apply as outlined in the Fees Notice.
Assessment
- Automatic admission:
If you satisfy the curricular requirements and you have a degree mark of 99/110 or higher you automatically meet the admission requirements.
- Curriculum assessment:
With degree marks below 99/110 you will undergo a curriculum evaluation by the Programme Commission. The Commission may:- Accept the candidate’s application and grant admission
- Reject the application
- Require an interview (in-person or online) to assess the preparation in relevant subjects and decide on admission accordingly
- For candidates with foreign qualifications:
With degrees obtained outside Italy you must apply following the instruction for International Students - Degree Seeker- The submitted Curriculum Studiorum will be evaluated according to the guidelines outlined below
- You will also undergo a knowledge assessment in neuroscience, as specified annually by the Academic Board
All decisions regarding admission are final and non-appealable.
Procedure
- Register for the assessment:
Access the Online Student Service (Esse3) and follow this path: Menu > Home > Admission Test (programmed access and master’s degrees)- Select the Test (Competition) for this programme and upload the following completed documents in the Attachments section:
- A valid ID document (front and back)
- A self-declaration of your qualification, including completed exams (not a certificate)
- The self-assessment questionnaire in Excel format, available at the bottom of this page
- Select the Test (Competition) for this programme and upload the following completed documents in the Attachments section:
- Verification of Preparation: follow the methods described in the dedicated section
- Wait for the verification result: you will receive the result by email. If you are admitted, proceed as outlined in the Online Procedure (Esse3) section.
Enrolment
Within deadlines
Access the Online Student Service (Esse3)
- Start the procedure for enrolment applications
Menu > Home > Enrolment
- Complete the required fields and upload the necessary documents:
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
If you log in using SPID, this will not be required - Supplementary enrolment form (at the bottom of this page)
- Passport-sized photo in JPEG format, NO SELFIES (refer to the requirements)
- Residence permit or proof of application (for non-EU citizens only)
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
- Pay the first instalment of university fees. This confirms your pre-enrolment.
Within 2 working days of payment, the university's digital services will be activated, limited to Microsoft Teams, to enable access to lectures.
- Wait for the confirmation email
Within a few days, you will receive an email confirming your enrolment. Your student number will then be visible in your Reserved Area on Esse3.
Within two working days of receiving confirmation of your enrolment, you will have full access to the University's digital services (including your institutional email account and the MyUniTS app).
- If you have yet to obtain the required qualification
If you have not yet obtained the qualification required for admission:
- start anyway the Enrolment Process
