Curricular requirements
To enrol in this programme, you must hold a Bachelor's degree obtained in the degree classes of Industrial Engineering (Class 10 of Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and Class L-9 of Ministerial Decree 270/2004) or Civil and Environmental Engineering (Class 08 of Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and Class L-7 of Ministerial Decree 270/2004).
You may also access the programme with a different Bachelor's degree, provided you have obtained a specific number of CFU in the following Scientific-Disciplinary Sectors (SSD):
- 18 CFU in mathematics courses (MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08)
- 9 CFU in physics courses (FIS/01, FIS/02)
- 6 CFU in chemistry courses (CHIM/03, CHIM/07)
- 6 CFU in disciplines in the electrical area (ING-IND/31, ING-IND/32, ING-IND/33, FIS/01, FIS/02, FIS/03)
- If you indicate 6 CFU in disciplines in the electrical area obtained in FIS/01, FIS/02, these must be additional to the 9 CFU in physics courses.
- 6 CFU in disciplines in the energy area (ING-IND/08, ING-IND/09, ING-IND/10, ING-IND/11)
- 6 CFU in ICAR/08
- An additional 9 CFU in ICAR/06, ICAR/09, ICAR/10, ICAR/17, only for the Sustainable Building Design and Technology curriculum
Language preparation
You must prove written and oral English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- If you have yet to obtain the required qualification
If you have not yet obtained the qualification required for admission:
- start anyway the Enrolment Process
- submit additional documentation: include a self-declaration listing completed and pending exams and your curriculum studiorum, if applicable.
- pay the first instalment of tuition fees:
This will allow you to attend lectures and access Digital Teaching resources. Upon obtaining your degree, you must re-enter the online procedure, enter the missing details and promptly inform the relevant section of the Admissions Office via email.
Your enrolment will be finalised, and you will receive your matriculation number only after providing all required documentation.
There are 2 admission requirement verification and subsequent enrolment windows, depending on the date the degree granting access to the course is obtained.
You can submit the enrolment application only after completing the requirement verification process and receiving a confirmation email.
Enrolment Deadlines for A.Y. 2024/2025
- 1st window – For graduates by 15 November 2024:
- Submission of evaluation request: from 3 June to 15 November 2024
- Enrolment: by 20 December 2024
- 2nd window – For graduates between 16 November 2024 and 28 March 2025:
- Submission of evaluation request: from 7 January to 14 February 2025
- Enrolment: by 31 March 2025
If you miss the first enrolment deadline of 20 December 2024, you may still enrol by 31 March 2025. However, a late enrolment fee will apply as outlined in the Fees Notice.
Assessment
A committee will assess whether you meet the entry requirements. The assessment of your preparation is automatically confirmed if you meet the curricular requirements and your degree grade is greater than or equal to 95/110.
If your degree mark is below 95/110, you will need to take an oral interview and/or a written test to assess the fundamental knowledge specific to the fields of energy and electricity.
This assessment will also be carried out if certain curricular requirements are not fully met, for instance, in cases of courses with similar content taken in related academic disciplines, or when there is no clear correspondence between exams and CFU such as for graduates from international study programmes.
Language skills
A knowledge of English at least at B2 level of the Common European Framework is automatically verified if you obtained your Bachelor’s Degree at this University.
Alternatively, during the preparation assessment procedure, you must upload:
- A self-certification issued by your University explicitly stating your B2 level, if you achieved this level during your Bachelor’s Degree.
- One of the certificates listed in the AICLU list.
If you do not have an adequate certified level, you can still acquire the required competences after enrolment through the University Language Centre (CLA).
Procedure
- Register for the assessment:
Access the Online Student Service (Esse3) and follow this path: Menu > Home > Admission Test (programmed access and master’s degrees)- Select the Test (Competition) for this programme and upload the following completed documents in the Attachments section:
- A valid ID document (front and back)
- A self-declaration of your qualification, including completed exams (not a certificate)
- The self-assessment questionnaire in Excel format, available at the bottom of this page
- Select the Test (Competition) for this programme and upload the following completed documents in the Attachments section:
- Verification of Preparation: follow the methods described in the dedicated section
- Wait for the verification result: you will receive the result by email. If you are admitted, proceed as outlined in the Online Procedure (Esse3) section.

Within deadlines
Access the Online Student Service (Esse3)
- Start the procedure for enrolment applications
Menu > Home > Enrolment
- Complete the required fields and upload the necessary documents:
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
If you log in using SPID, this will not be required - Supplementary enrolment form (at the bottom of this page)
- Passport-sized photo in JPEG format, NO SELFIES (refer to the requirements)
- Residence permit or proof of application (for non-EU citizens only)
- Valid identity document in PDF format (front and back)
- Pay the first instalment of university fees. This confirms your pre-enrolment.
Within 2 working days of payment, the university's digital services will be activated, limited to Microsoft Teams, to enable access to lectures.
- Wait for the confirmation email
Within a few days, you will receive an email confirming your enrolment. Your student number will then be visible in your Reserved Area on Esse3.
Within two working days of receiving confirmation of your enrolment, you will have full access to the University's digital services (including your institutional email account and the MyUniTS app).
