Syllabus

D1. Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the student must demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental principles of analytical chemistry with particular regard to the atmospheric compartment and soil chemistry. He must also know the chemistry of the atmosphere and the main atmospheric pollutants and the biogeochemical cycles of the elements. He must also know the main inorganic and organic pollutants released into the environment and the new emerging pollutants.
D2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course the student must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in point D1 to study the main problems related to environmental pollution. He must know how to apply the basics of environmental chemistry to discuss cases of environmental pollution with other interlocutors and to evaluate possible solutions.
D3. Autonomy of judgment: At the end of the course the student must be able to judge independently a case of environmental air pollution and be able to operate independently using the knowledge acquired in the chemical field. It must also propose solutions for cases of environmental pollution.
D4. Communication skills: At the end of the course the student must be able to clearly expose the concepts acquired in point D1, also through applications to real cases and discussion in public. He must also be able to intervene critically on the topics of the course.
D5. Learning skills: At the end of the course the student must be able to deepen independently the topics covered, also must be able to transfer the notions learned in the subsequent courses of the degree course and be able to plan and propose an environmental study in particular for the atmospheric compartment.

Classroom lectures and practical examples of analyses and protocols. The class material, including examples, is available for the students on Moodle and MS-teams platforms. Any changes which may become necessary to apply the application of safety protocols related to the COVID19 emergency, will be communicated on the Department's and Degree Course websites and Lecture course platforms page.

Any changes these indications, which may become necessary to ensure the application of safety protocols related to the COVID19 emergency, will be communicated on the Department's and Degree Course websites and Lecture course Moodle page.

Oral exam, with presentation on a scientific article (score up to 10/30) proposed by the teacher. Generally, in addition to the presentation, two/three questions related to the topics discussed during the lessons are proposed (score up to 20/30). Knowledge of the specific issues, language properties, communication effectiveness, and the ability to identify correlations between topics of the course are considered in the evaluation.
Any changes which may become necessary to ensure the application of safety protocols related to the COVID19 emergency, will be communicated on the Department's and Degree Course websites and Lecture course Moodle page.
