Syllabus

Knowledge and understanding: Understand the concept of risk related to the machinery and electrical energy use. Know the prevention and protection methods and measures aimed to reduce those risks, with specific reference to the technical standards of this sector and the connected laws. Applying knowledge and understanding: Choice of the protection devices against overload and short circuit. Knowledge and understanding on the effects of the electrical current on the human body. Knowledge on the regulations and documentations regarding the electrical safety in power systems and in particular regarding the electrical safety in medical facilities. Making judgements: Through the topics covered during the lessons, the goal is to make the students capable of making independent and critical judgements about the measures to ensure the safety in an electrical power system and in particular in those dedicated to the medical facilities. Communication skills: The mastery and correct understanding of the topics covered in the teaching are the means to reach an adequate ability to present arguments on topics involving power systems safety in a clear and effective way. Learning skills: The concept taught in the course aim to provide the students the necessary tools to understand the importance of the electrical safety, especially in the medical facilities, and to understand the regulations.
